Review: Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto OST

I finally got some time to make my first review. I wondered how I could do it the best for you guys to enjoy it. It is a fact I can’t upload each song for you to listen to. It would take too much bandwith. I came up with the idea to upload only 3 favourite songs… (Till I get a better idea).

So the OST is the first one for the anime Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto. I did watch the first episodes (till 7) and found it enjoyable. It was good quality, nice story, charismatic hero. It’s just that… I’m not really a big fan of traditional stories with samurais. Besides, I have so many things to watch… So I dropped the series (I’ll probably watch them later). Still, I waited for the OST as the background music was amazing.
I wouldn’t have noticed the series, if Kajiura didn’t made the OP.

After a full listening of the soundtrack, I am IMPRESSED. This is great quality, even if ( too? ) many tracks uses the same theme. I juste love it. There are 27 tracks on one CD, which makes every track very short. The average length is 1:30 !

As the anime, the music is Chinese/Japanese traditional music. Hideyuki uses the traditional instruments, and feeling too.

My favourite tracks are : 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27
I know these are alot of favourites, but I couldn’t do it to myself to not write all of the down!
I have a big preference for track number 20 which uses some kind of harp and violin… Very peacefull and sad song. Track 25 is a mix of piano and flute which is also very nice!

If you like the samples, I can only recommend you to find and listen to the whole soundtrack!
I hope you enjoyed this first review :)

The opening is Kouya Ruten. Yuki didn’t arrange anything I’m aware of on this OST ;)
